Thousands of Cubans took to the streets on Sunday to protest a lack of food and medicine as the country undergoes a grave economic crisis aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic and US sanctions.
由於新冠疫情和美國制裁,加劇了古巴的嚴重經濟危機,數以千計的古巴人在週日走上街頭,抗議食品以及藥品短缺。
Demonstrators complained about a lack of freedom and the worsening economic situation during the rare protests. Many chanted for "freedom" and called for President Miguel Díaz-Canel to step down.
在罕見的抗議活動中,示威者抱怨缺乏自由和不斷惡化的經濟狀況。許多人高呼「自由」,並呼籲總統狄亞士卡奈下台。
Multiple protesters were arrested by police, who used tear gas to break up some demonstrations. There were also violent clashes, where protesters turned over a police car and threw rocks at officers.
警方使用催淚瓦斯來驅散一些示威活動,並有多名示威者被逮捕。現場還爆發警民暴力衝突,示威者推翻警車並向警方丟擲石頭。
Now Cuba says it will allow travellers arriving in the country to bring in food, medicine and other essentials without paying import duties.
現在古巴當局表示,將允許入境古巴的旅客攜帶食物、藥品和其他必需品,而且不需要支付進口稅。
Travellers to Cuba can currently bring up to 10kg of medicine into the country tax-free. However, they must pay customs duties on the limited amount of food and personal hygiene supplies they are allowed to bring in. However, the measure is only temporary.
前往古巴的旅客,目前最多只能攜帶10公斤的藥品,免稅入境。但是他們必須針對允許攜帶入境的有限食品和個人衛生用品繳納關稅。不過這項措施只是暫時性的。
